Invoice PDF Renamer

Rename invoice PDFs by the fields that matter: vendor, invoice number, invoice date, and total amount. Review the generated names before downloading renamed copies.

When to use an invoice PDF renamer

Use this workflow when downloaded invoices arrive with names like download.pdf, invoice.pdf, or random portal IDs. A clean invoice file name makes bookkeeping, review, and month-end folders easier to search.

The free tool is designed for recurring folders where every PDF follows a similar structure. For example, vendor invoices, SaaS receipts, contractor bills, and client expense records.

Useful invoice fields

  • Invoice number: often appears after “Invoice #”, “Invoice No.”, or “INV”.
  • Date: supports common US, UK, and ISO-style date formats.
  • Vendor: can often be taken from the first visible text line.
  • Amount: usually appears near “Total”, “Amount due”, or “Balance due”.

Invoice file name examples

Good invoice names are short, consistent, and searchable:

  • 2026-05-08_acme_INV-1042.pdf
  • Acme - INV-1042 - 2026-05-08.pdf
  • 2026-05_acme_1299.00.pdf

What to check before downloading

Always review the preview table. If a PDF is scanned, has unusual spacing, or uses image-only text, the browser may not find invoice fields until OCR is used. The free version does not change your original files; it creates renamed copies in a ZIP.
